How to Import a Hyperlinked Digital Planner, and How This One Works

How to get the PDF into GoodNotes, reMarkable or an e-ink tablet, and how the pages and links are laid out.

What a hyperlinked planner is

It is a PDF laid out like a paper planner, except you tap a date or tab to jump to that page. No flipping through hundreds of pages.

The links are standard PDF page links, so any app that reads PDF links follows them the same way. The file also has a table of contents.

The PDF is built in your browser. Your choices and the file never leave your device.

Picking a page size

E-ink sizes are worked out from screen pixels and ppi. The reMarkable 2 is 1872 x 1404 pixels at 226 ppi, so a page fills the screen exactly.

Tablet apps fit the page to the screen width, so only the ratio matters. There is iPad portrait and landscape, and a 16:10 Galaxy Tab size.

Printing? Pick US Letter, A5 or A4. If your device isn't listed, pick the closest ratio.

How the pages and links are laid out

Page order is cover, year at a glance, 12 monthly pages, weekly, daily, 10 notes pages, 12 habit trackers and 12 budget pages. Only ticked sections go in.

A full 2027 planner is 465 pages. Weekly runs from the week holding January 1 to the week holding December 31, which is 53 weeks.

Dates on the year and month pages go to that daily page. Without daily pages they go to the week, and without weekly pages to the month.

Every page has side tabs for the year, each month, notes, habits and budget. Daily pages also have buttons for the previous day, the week, the month and the next day.

US federal holidays are worked out from the rules in 5 U.S.C. 6103. When one falls on a weekend, the observed Friday or Monday is marked too.

Korean holidays and lunar dates are optional, for anyone who keeps both calendars.

Importing into GoodNotes

Share the PDF from the Files app to GoodNotes, or tap Import in GoodNotes and pick the file.

Import it as a new notebook so page links work. In read-only mode tap a link. While writing, long-press it.

Notability and Samsung Notes open it with Import PDF too. Whether links work depends on the app.

Importing into reMarkable and other e-ink tablets

Send the PDF with the reMarkable desktop or phone app. If a pen tap doesn't jump, try your finger.

On Boox, move the file with BooxDrop or USB and import it into the Notes app.

For 6 in readers pick the 6 in e-ink size. On readers without a pen it still works as a calendar.

E-ink shows color as gray, so holidays are also set in bold.

Common snags

The file is big: that's the 365 daily pages. Drop daily pages and it is around 100 pages.

Links do nothing: that app doesn't read PDF links. Use the table of contents, or open it in an app that does.

A holiday is missing: only federal holidays are included. State holidays are not.

It's slow: older devices can take a few dozen seconds. You can build it on a computer and move it over.
